Entering high school

Moving from Middle School to High School can be daunting and may be the catalyst for other issues. How well you deal with school stress can determine the level of overall success.

Anxious about school

Social anxiety can show up as poor performance, sleeping all day or other symptoms. If your child is not coping, determining the root cause is critical to their overall success.

Gender identity

In a world of openness it is not easy for a young person to disclose their innermost feelings about their sexual identity. Fear of rejection by parents, being bullied by peers are real.

Stressful relationships

Parents, teachers, friends, employers - they can all create stress.

Entering college or university

Just when college or university students move away from home, those in crisis must navigate the mental health system alone in a strange city without family or friends to provide support.

Finding your first job

Making the transition from school to work can be a challenge and create uncertainty and anxiety. There are tools, techniques and support which can make the process easier.

Parent talk

Your child is not coping at high school. Or your college or university student is having problems. You may be wondering why your daughter or son is always in their room or playing video games.

Communicating with the world

In a world of social media, the ability to interact with peers, educators and employers is essential. It may be hard to discuss issues with parents due to a cultural or generational divide.

youth

Older teenagers face life changes and can feel pressure socially, academically and in family.

Young adults

Not a teenager but not adult. Young adults require practitioners tuned into their needs and challenges.

Parents

Your child (who is no longer a child) is facing issues. You're not sure what's happening; you don't know what to do.

Professionals

Patients of psychologists, psychiatrists and family doctors may need counselling to supplement medical care. I provide continuity.

Meet our professional staff

Working with youth and young adults requires patience, compassion and professional skill.

Welcome to Rose Counselling. My name is Janet Marmur, professional Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW).

I help young people deal with difficult issues. I'm the one you call when you're out of ideas and in need of a fresh perspective.

Of course you wouldn't trust just anyone at this time in your life. I've spent my entire career supporting young people. I've been a school social worker, a mental health therapist in leading Toronto hospitals, I've run numerous group therapy sessions for teens and parents, and now, I'm in private practice.

I'm also a parent of three young adults. So, I get it.

My philosophy has always been "the client's needs come first".  When you contact me, rest assured that your enquiry is in the strictest confidence.

Please call me on 647-483-4047 for a complimentary initial consultation, so that we can determine if I am the right person to help you with the issues you are facing.
